What we don't know won't hurt us.

Work work work. My brain hurts so much but at the same time I am enlightened. I'm writing an article on skin care, finding the healthiest options. I didn't know alot about cosmetics and looking after your skin before, I just figured you wash your face morning and night and moisturise. But the amount of products on average that people use a day, WOW at least 15. Crazy.
And if that fact wasn't mind blowing enough, we have no idea how dangerous our products are. Surely i've read more than 100 different sites this last 3 weeks and everything i've read about our everyday products are just disgusting. I'm disappointed for not knowing this earlier and I'm infuriated with manufacturers for having the mind to do this to us.

The products we buy and use on a daily basis are bottles of chemicals! Even when we think were purchasing natural products, half the time there's barely any natural in it. Tonnes of cheap ingredients bought to chuck in these containers, some for moisture maybe, the rest to counteract the effect the first ingredients might have. Worst of all it's not compulsory to test there works. It makes me sick that they're selling these products to us without informing us. Cancer causing ingredients, kidney & liver damaging, headaches, depression etc. Skin irritation at the least.

And now people are finding out and are trying to make the right decision to switch to healthy organic and raw products. Which would be great, if only there was a rule saying that any other tom, dick or harry can't say there products were. ARGH. Raw is good, If i'm gonna buy anything from now on it'll be raw. Otherwise i'm making my own from now on. Sucky industry.

Sorry guys, that was a rant I had to get off my chest.
I do feel better for knowing! I hope this blabber will interest you guys to do some of your own research on what you're really putting on your skin.
Look after yourself, there's only one of you!

my life is average

I have never laughed so much in my life! You know when you go on facebook and you read something and it's like exactly what you were thinking...click LIKE. Well I just found a website, & I have been on it for the past 5 hours or something. My face hurts bad and my throat is quite sore but it was sooo worth it. Everything I read is like, I've so thought that before or that reminds me of me and my friends lol.

Finding a little bit of me.

Times . Are . Good :)

I'm so enjoying life, the weathers been good, always a mood lifter! I had a birthday yesterday. The big 1 8. That's what my friends say. Again and again. I was mopeing around the house on saturday, not looking forward to it. I'd hoped fate would give me a chance at being seventeen for a few more years! But I decided that this year is going to be the best yet. And it's funny how far a bit of positivity goes. I had a great day. My friend called me up bright and early to scream a happy birthday :) that was a fun start, then my nana called me, and then my brother. It was so nice, we had a good ol' chat. It's crazy how it takes being apart awhile to get along.

I hung out at my friend jess's house and it was so fun, lots of friends were popping in and happy birthdaying me, lots of laughs and smiles. I taught a couple of them how to make my dangerous cake. They looked like they discovered something incredible so I was satisfied. We sat in the summer sun and listened to music. A memory I'd hate to forget!

But now I'm eighteen, I'll have to start thinking about some of the things I really want to do. I know I love writing and I've started my course in freelance journalism, doing my first article, it feels great to be doing something about it. One day I'd love to write a book, don't know what about, but I'm sure if I just put pen to paper I'll find out.

I used to love photography, i'd take photos for school and around the house all the time. People, flowers, buildings, lots and lots of hills. They were good times, and I think I'm ready to pick that up again. Photos are so good for the soul. For me, they seem to twist up so many emotions. I can look at a photo and be motivated to do anything, the inspirations great, it gives me a mission. I think I'd love to take my own photos and maybe one day other people will feel like that about my photos?

I'll put some of my old photos on another time - it's not working at the moment.

22/02/2011 Christchurch

A tragic day for Christchurch in New Zealands history. It seemed like they were making a come-back from Septembers earthquake and aftershocks and the new year was bringing promise. Unfortunately that hope was shattered today when a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, 5ks deep hit the city. It's a very hectic time for Christchurch and New Zealand, everyone trying to pull through it, families all over the country trying to get in touch with loved ones and rescuers still searching for survivors.
This is just a quick post to say to Christchurch, were thinking of you, were praying for you and we know you'll pull through. You have done it before, you can do it again. Arohanui!

I'm Loving...

American Idol
Yay, it's back on the box and it looks like there's a fresh new batch of talented cookies! Of course there are still the, well not talented on any level hopefuls. Blessem. I'm thinking this year is gonna be a hit, not only are the contestants new, so are the judges (minus randy, he's still the man). This time rocker Steven Tyler and the beautiful Jennifer Lopez get a go at finding the Next American Idol. Wow, I am excited! I'm predicting the winner'l be a girl but then again the adorable 15 year old Jacee Badeaux did give me the goosebumps. You can see I'll definitely being staying tuned, it'll be a hit I tell ya!

Drop Dead Diva
Omg, this programme is awesome. A beautifull lady that gets everything handed to her for free dies, presses a button and returns to life in another womans body. Jane, a wise but weighty lawyer. This story is great, apart from all the funny parts,
Stacy: Ooh, you can come and do pie lattes at the gym with me.
The story actually has alot of heart and moral. Only week 3 of season 1 here in New Zealand, we have a few episodes yet to enjoy.

Okay, apart from tv programmes I do have other things going on that I'm loving!

Course
Yeap I told you I wouldn't just be sitting around. I've started a course and although It's only just started I'm enjoying it. I'm hoping alot of good will come from it.

My beautiful niece
Awww, it's already been a month since she was born and she's growing beautifully. My heart skips everytime I see her.

Adele
She's a talented singer! 'There's a fire, starting in my heart..' Whenever I hear her songs I'm motivated, there quite impowering songs.

Military Jackets
I don't have any myself, but man, they almost go with anything and there so edgy. I plan to get one or two, wearing with casual clothes gives an edgy style, also they look cute with a maxi dress! Yay military

Anyway, those are a few things I'm loving at the moment. And yaya, American Idols on tonight!
Hope you guys are enjoying things too. xx

Hey guys,

I'm not a very disciplined person when it comes to health but if I can convince myself that something will benefit me I naturally do them more often. It's a good trait I've inherited. So when I told myself to drink a little more water I was definitely glad that I paid attention. (talking to myself, not weird at all!)

I've made it a habit to drink at least one bottle of water a day (and it does help if you like the bottle) and apart from feeling allot better, my minds clearer, I'm more energetic and allot more positive, I look allot healthier. My family have noticed a little bounce in my step and I've noticed my skin is clearer. It's just an overall health potion. Yeah, well waters not all that interesting but I thought I'd put that thought out there. If you guys can find the time to get down a few gulps, I recommend it!

Some of my favourite things at the moment.

Summer- The weathers been all over the place this summer but this last week has been bliss. It's crazy how hot it's been but it's the summer I remember from when I was young. Every day of the holidays a group of us, usually including my big brothers, would be down at the wharf doing bombs and swimming around, watching the smaller boats come up the jetty. I'll always remember how happy I felt in those days! I'm smiling now just thinking about it. And what's funny is that me and my friends still do that these days lol just new friends and a different wharf. It's good to be a kid every now and then! I recommend it :)

Nail polish- One of my resolutions this year was to grow my nails. Break the disgusting habit of biting them. Eugh, I know right but fortunately I've managed to achieve that goal. I never knew how much the heat helps them grow though and another thing I didn't know was how much I'd become obsessed with nail polish! Seriously, I'm like painting my nails all the time and every time I see a nail polish I'm like, Ohh I want it, gimme gimme. It's a crazy little obsession but I'm sure it's harmless :) My favourites would have to be fresh green, pastel purple and you know those glittery nail polishes you use to get when you were little. Yeah, you know the one, lol It's so glamorous but playful at the same time. Try it, I dare you.

Back to December- I am one of Taylor Swifts biggest fans, I admit, she's definitely got the voice and she's got the nack of putting words together and having so much meaning. I love it. Back to December's a sad song and I've read that it's about the Lautner which for me makes it sadder cause he seems sweet. But I can't stop playing it, honestly non-stop, I'm listening to it right now! I've learnt (roughly) how to play it on guitar, thanks to YouTube (shh) and when I'm not listening to it on the computer, or the stereo, or my ipod, then I'm playing it on guitar and singing along lol. Well, I don't play it that often but it is still a really good song.

Cooking- I wrote about this last time. It's just fun. I'm probably the last person in the world to try it so I won't have to convince you how fun it is :)

Hairdo's- Honestly I never touch my hair. I've got long hair that just sits in a bun on the top of my head most of the time. Until I discovered one day that, omg you can create some pretty awesome styles with your hair, haha I've been trying new hair styles alot lately and it's inspiring actually, I mean your doing yourself up so you feel special and motivated to go places and show your 'do' off. Plaits, waves, puffs, you know random stuff, I just look in some magazines and I'm like ohh, I'll do that. And all you really need is a hairtye and a couple of bobbypins. Fun and cheap!

Yeah, so those are 'Some of my favourite things at the moment.' And they actually all work together! See, Pretty yourself up with a wicked hairdo and a new naily, go out side and soak up the sun while listening to music and eating something homemade. Like a dream, it's all fun! Hope you guys are taking time to enjoy life and looking after yourselves! :)

Bye xx

You learn a new thing everyday!

Heya, guess what? I just found a new hobby. And I'm pretty good at it if I may say so myself! What is it you ask? COOKING. Ahhhh I love it. I've been in the kitchen, whipping up lots of different things like Cake, Beer Bread, Crackers, Salad dressing and Mayonnaise. It's all quite basic everyday eating things and I never realised how fun it was. It's sort of like pioneer cooking :) I grabbed a few of the recipes out of my mums old cook book, very simple recipes too. I got the salad dressing out of Annabel Langbiens Free Range Cook, its quite tasty. And now I've got a delicious stock of crackers to sneak when I'm feeling peckish, I'm quite proud of them. The cake I made is actually the most easy and fast cake you could make - which is probably why it's called 'The most dangerous cake ever'! lol

Here's the recipe for anyone that likes a sneaky-yet-tastey late night dessert, not alot of motivation involved!
4 tbls flour
4 tbls sugar
2 tbls cocoa
Mix in a mug or small bowl
1 egg
Mix again
3 tbls milk
3 tbls oil
Mix aaagain
1 handful of choc chips
a splash of vanilla essence
Mix again and chuck in the microwave for 3 mins.
Serves 1-2 but most likely one, trust me it's tastey!

Hope you like it, I'm gonna try find something else fun to make now!
Toodles xx

New plan.

Hey, so i've changed my mind. I'm not gonna just write about what resolutions i've achieve throughout the year. I never actually realised how boring that sounded till now. Yeah, i'm gonna write about anything and everything, what I think, things I like, what i've been up to etc. because I absolutely love reading blogs about the random things people come up with. But just putting it out there, I have crossed a couple more things off my list such as growing my nails and getting my visa. yay!

Its the first of feb and Im totally excited! It's my bday this month. woopwoop...the big eighteen. Still I refuse to grow up just yet! Unfortunately alot of my friends have got themselves sorted education wise for the new year ahead, well it's unfortunate for me, not having as many people to hang out with. I even have to throw a farewell do for my best friend who's moving all the way up the country :( so i'm very sad. Anyway, i've decided instead of mopeing around i'm gonna have to find things to do. Where to start?

Ps. Don't worry,  i'm not slacking. I'll be doing a course aswell.
I just know how to multitask :)

The people medicine

Hey guys, well the past couple of weeks have been crazy, stressful & busy, but also helpful ones . I've been feeling negative about life. I didn't know what to do with myself, I hit a wall on how to achieve my goals and I was just overall depressed. Lucky me something happened that changed it all. On the 15th my first ever neice was born! We don't have any babys in our family & I'm the youngest so I never had the experience of a baby. But now I'm a brand new aunty and I'm ecstatic!

So, me and my family travelled up the country to go see the new blessing and - well, it was everything I hoped for. Shes was the most gorgeous thing i'd ever seen! Seeing baby was only the start of my comeback. On the way home we stopped at an aunts to show off some photos and I got to see my cousins I havn't seen in ages. I've always looked up to them, there so positive, fit and healthy. And on the journey home I was on a huge buzz, so inspired. My niece made me so happy & my cousins made me feel confident and want to be fit and healthy like them. It was a simple but uplifting journey!

 - In conclusion I find that being with the right people can be life saving, the right attitudes can make you feel invincible. So to anyone that may be reading this, anyone thats depressed or feeling down, I recommend going out and spending time with friends and family cause It will do you a world of good!

Things I do not to become insane...

Hey,
okay so its day 5 of the new year & I was very close to becoming a crazy person! Uargh, I live in the middle of nowhere, can't really drive, noone wants to drive me so I'm stuck here! Lucky though, I remembered my blog & the plans I have for this year. So I looked over my list of things to do & did a few things towards achieving  them.

Driving . . .
Didnt go far but I had fun driving around the place. A few days ago I was horrible at driving, I was hitting potplants and nearly scratching the sides on the fences, ugh lets just say I was nearly ready to give up for everyone elses sake. But I gave it another go and I have discovered the secret to great, almost perfect driving. Wind the window down! I don't know how it helps, maybe everthings just clearer but I was onto it after that. (I'll just have to make a point of not driving on rainy days!)

Learnt some Italiana...
I've been doing a little bit of studying, I'm of course at the very beggining so I have loads to learn but I'm certainly enjoying my self! I learnt how to say ...
- Hi, my name is Rose - Ciao, io mi chiamo Rose
- I live in New Zealand - Io abito in New Zealande
- I am a beautiful and pleasant woman - Io sono una donna, bella e simpatica
- What is your name? - Come si chiami tu?
I learnt a few more things too but thats enough about that. Oh and excuse me if your Italian and I wasn't particularily right or good. Feel free to correct me, I wouldn't like to turn up in Italy speaking my own version of the language!

Learnt a song on the guitar...
I dont know if that was on my list but I youtubed how to play Sweet Home Alabama and got me a new song to play when I'm feeling like I need some fun music to listen to! Yipee.

One thing you may not know about me is that I am a drawer, I love to sketch & I'm happy to say I've signed a couple of pictures today and am keen to see where they end up :) I may put a pic up sometime.
But apart from learning more things I've got to think of something else I can do. If anyone has suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!

Blogging Debut

Hey everyone, its the first day of 2011 and I'm buzzed! Last year went way too fast & I feel like I got nothing done. Zilch. I didn't even pass my last year of high school (so ashamed). But the new year's finally come along and I'm determined to make it the best one so far. So i've made a few resolutions! Now, I realise that the percentage of making and achieving resolutions for the new year, isn't great. But I feel this could be my year! For example, as a young woman that has a paticullar interest in journalism, I told myself it would be fun to start a blog, resolution #1, and success here I am.

Well thats No.1 crossed of the list, heres a few more I intend to knock off!
In no particular order.

  - Create a blog
  - Finally sort out a fitness routine (I'm not very disciplined when its comes to this)
  - Get my restricted liscence
  - Get my first job (I'm a shy person & I insist it takes guts to go out and get a job)
  - Learn Italian (hinting a resolution for a few years in the future)
  - Road Trip up the country with best friend (bout time we did something unordinary)
  - Do a course on something interesting and pass it
  - Stop biting nails ( I know, it's disgusting but habits arn't normally things we like doing)
  - Get a visa (bus tickets and adorable clothing)
  - Get my tongue peirced (cause I feel like it :))
  - And last but not least I intend to read three world famous classic books
(Pride & Prejuduce, Wuthering Heights & Little Woman - Should be good)

I could be getting ahead of myself, but I'm sure I'll do fine.
Thanks, and I hope you will all have fun in the new year and lots of luck if you have a list as daunting as mine! :)
